I fell into an adoption career….. well, maybe I did not fall into it…..rather, I was most likely placed in the career by God himself. And, during the course of my career, I have heard about and been witness to countless adoption stories that could never be attributed to coincidence and can only be attributed to a Creator that knows exactly where adopted children are suppose to be. So, through the years, I have developed a love for the specialness and intimacy of being a small part of God’s plan in helping people starting their families through adoption.
Recently, my rose colored adoption shades have been peeled from my baby blues, revealing an ugly part of the adoption universe. It started with the vacated adoption on December 15, 2017 of a precious and precocious little three and a half year old girl, Braelynn Dalsing. Since learning that our SC Court of Appeal had overturned this sweet child’s adoption, and turning this family on it head, I have discovered groups of individuals I refer to as “adoption haters”. REALLY???? There are people out there that hate adoption???? Are you kidding me??? I have stood amazed (and not in a good way) at the number of people who spew hate and venom towards an adoptive family, who are only guilty of opening their home to a 3 week old foster girl, loving her, and allowing her to claim them as her parents.
I urge you to read her story and then sign her parents’ petition to keep Braelynn home with the only family she has ever known.
